1. Who we are

Pro Writer OS (“the app”) is made by ScriptMaster. ScriptMaster is the trading name of Billy Cook, based in England. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean ScriptMaster, and “you” means the person using the app.

2. These terms

These terms are the licence agreement for the app, and the terms of sale for licences bought from prowriteros.com. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t install or use it.

3. The free trial

You can use every feature free for 14 days from when you first open the app. After that, the app switches to Reader Mode: you can still open, read and export all your projects, but you’ll need a licence to keep editing. The trial is for one person to evaluate the app; please don’t try to reset or extend it.

4. Your licence

When you buy a licence and pay in full, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to install and use the app on one computer, for your own writing, whether that’s for personal projects or professional work.

• Perpetual: your licence doesn’t expire and there’s no subscription.
• One computer: each licence key is tied to one computer’s Hardware ID. If you replace your computer, email us and we’ll move your licence to the new one. We may decline repeated requests that look like a key being shared.
• Updates: your licence includes the version you bought and any updates we release for it. We may offer future major new versions separately, as a paid upgrade; the version you bought keeps working either way.
• The app is licensed, not sold. We (and our licensors) own the app, its design, code, sample projects and documentation, and all intellectual property in them.

5. What you mustn’t do

Except where the law expressly allows it, you mustn’t:

• share, publish, sell or give away your licence key, or let other people use it;
• copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute the app;
• bypass, disable, crack or tamper with the licence check or the trial;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or modify the app;
• remove any copyright or ownership notices; or
• use the app for anything unlawful.

If you break these rules we may end your licence by telling you, and you must then stop using the app and delete it. This doesn’t affect any rights you have by law.

6. Your work is yours

Everything you create in Pro Writer OS belongs to you. We claim no ownership of, or licence to, your stories, and we never see them: your projects stay on your computer. You’re responsible for what you write and for having the rights to anything you import.

7. Buying a licence

• Orders are processed by Stripe, which acts as our online reseller and merchant of record. Your purchase contract for payment purposes is with Stripe, under Stripe’s own terms; this licence agreement is between you and us.
• Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any VAT or sales tax that applies. Stripe may show the price in your local currency.
• Launch or founder prices are limited-time offers. A later price change doesn’t affect a licence you’ve already bought.
• Your licence code is emailed to you as soon as your payment is confirmed. If it hasn’t arrived within an hour, check your spam folder, then email us.

8. Refunds

• 14-day money-back guarantee. If you change your mind for any reason, email billy@scriptmaster.co.uk within 14 days of buying and we’ll give you a full refund. You don’t have to explain why.
• When a licence is refunded, the licence ends: please stop using the key and delete it.
• After 14 days, purchases are final, except where the app is faulty (see below). The free trial is there so you can make sure Pro Writer OS is right for you before you buy.
• Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 working days. Stripe, as our reseller, may also process refunds under its own policies.

9. Your legal rights

If you’re a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If the app is faulty, email us and we’ll try to fix it; if we can’t within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a partial or full refund. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Advice about your legal rights is available from Citizens Advice.

10. Optional AI features and other services

The optional AI loglines only work if you add your own API key from a provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic. Your use of that provider, and any charges it makes, are between you and the provider under its own terms. The app also imports and exports formats used by other products. Final Draft, Word, Ink, Articy and other product names are trademarks of their owners; Pro Writer OS isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them.

The app includes open-source software components, which are licensed under their own terms.

11. Looking after your work

Pro Writer OS saves as you go and keeps regular backups, but no software is perfect and computers fail. Please keep your own backups of important work, for example on an external drive or cloud storage.

12. Our responsibility to you

• If we break these terms, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach, but not for loss or damage that isn’t foreseeable.
• If faulty digital content we’ve supplied damages your device or other digital content, and that’s because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
• We aren’t responsible for lost work or data that regular backups would have prevented.
• If you use the app for business purposes, we aren’t liable for loss of profits, income, business or opportunity, and our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid for your licence.
• Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited or excluded by law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in the app. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes won’t take away rights you already have under a licence you’ve bought.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and if you live elsewhere you keep any protections your local consumer law gives you.
